(More customer reviews)At first the thought of spending $750 on a grill seemed insane. Then I started adding up all of the $250-$350 grills I've had to buy in the 7-years I've owned my home. Based on reading hundreds of reviews, I figured that a stainless steel grill made by Weber would be the last grill I'd have to buy. I think I might be right.
I bought the natural gas version, which I would highly recommend. No more messing around with propane. Just turn on the valve and you've got flame.
I've had the grill outdoors for 4 months now (somtimes covered, sometimes not) and there are no signs of any corrosion anywhere. The stainless steel cleans easily and polishes up nicely.
The drip catch system is higher quality than I've seen, with a ceramic coated 'funnel' that drains juices down to the tin catch pan. Nothing collects near the flames so flare-ups are minimized. The 'flavorizer' bars immediately incinerate any grease that falls on them. The grill is easy to dismantle for cleaning.
The front-to-back burners provide perfectly even heat and a lot of it. The thermometer on the grill easily spins past the highest marking of 600 degrees. At these temperatures steaks sear nicely and the grill is almost 'self cleaning' since any stuck-on food is almost completely incinerated. Anything that remains on the grill easily scrapes off the stainless steel grates.
The front-to-back burners also allow you to use the grill like an oven. By shutting off the center burner, you can use indirect heat to cook food without searing it. The insulated hood keeps heat inside which makes the grill more efficient but also makes it easier to stand next to while cooking (not much heat radiates around the grille).
I'm convinced that this grill is an excellent investment.

Weber 2820 Smokey Mountain Cooker/Smoker Review

(More customer reviews)The Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM) is really the king of the bullet smokers. You may be tempted to go with a cheaper Brinkmann model, and if your budget just can't afford the WSM, then you can do some prefectly acceptible bbq on the brinkmann.
But if you can afford the extra for the WSM, you will get much better temperature control, and getting good temperature control means you can keep a good consistent low temeperature for doing some truly outstanding smoke cooking.
I am by no means an expert on the subject, only having used my WSM about 10 times. Even so, I have been getting results better than any ribs I have tasted at any restaurant (with the exception of real honest to goodness BBQ joints that cook over hardwood for 12 hours plus...). You can tell real barbecue because it has a pink smoke ring in the meat, which I always get when I use the WSM.
You will want to check on the net for the virtual WSM web page, it has a lot of information, and I found the info there a lot more useful than the methods recommended in the owner's manual.
This cooker is not for the impatient who want instant results, your first few times using it may be frustrating until you learn to control where the temperature is going, not where it is right now. But stick with it and you will start to make some truly great bbq. And understand that you are going to be cooking low and slow, which means it is going to take 4, 5, 6 hours or more to do ribs, but once you get the hang of it, they will be some of the best ribs you have tasted.
More than a fair number of barbecue champions use the WSM get results as good as if not better than those guys using the $1000 plus offset pits. The WSM is a great value and the perfect starter "pit" for someone thinking about getting into serious barbecue.
(You can do yourself a favor by using hickory wood chunks as part of the fuel, and real lump charcoal, not briquettes. Briquettes are nice and all, but they are filled with clay and other impurities, really if you are going to the trouble of using charcoal instead of gas, go with real charcoal if you can find it)

Diablo Stovetop Toasted Sandwich Snack Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this, as 30 years ago my mother had a stovetop sandwich maker and she used to always make us kids, hot peanut butter sandwiches in the Winter time. The one she had came from her mother or grandmother and it was solid steel. This Diablo sandwich maker is not as solid but it is does have a non-stick coating, so butter on the outside of the sandwiches is not needed (unless there is a concern about burning bread). My 2 biggest complaints would be that the size could have been a little bigger (good size for square breads). For larger size bread, the Diablo cuts the edges off upon closing. The 2nd complaint is that Diablo is imprinted on every sandwich. I perfer no advertizing on my sandwiches. Overall it works fine and so far no cooking problems.

Weber 16140 BabyQ Rolling Duffel Bag Review

(More customer reviews)I got this bag to store by Weber BabyQ model 100 when I'm not using it.
Pros: heavy duty construction, fits the grill nicely, and it has wheels.
Cons: Takes up a lot of real estate wherever you store it. Another con might be the zipper - it looks like the weakest component of the bag (i.e. will probably be the first to fail)
So far, the bag has held up well in all weather and picnic conditions. I always wait for the grill to completely cool before placing it in the bag, so I don't know about its heat resistence properties.

Char-Broil 06701289 Charcoal Water Smoker Review

(More customer reviews)As it comes out of the box, you will have a hard time keeping the temperature up into the cooking range (200 F) on this smoker, unless you add hot coals every 30 to 45 minutes. The problem is that the fire does not get enough oxygen with the fire pan provided. To increase air flow, I drilled about 30 half-inch diameter holes in the bottom of my fire pan. Then, I bought a charcoal grate from Home Depot. I set on top of a 3 inch tall collar made of aluminum flashing that sits in the drilled out fire pan. Many of the barbecue sites on the web have other detailed instructions for modification of water smokers.
As the fire burns, ash will drop through the fire grate into the fire pan. Eventually enough ash will accumulate to block the air holes, so it is important to keep these open by poking a stick around to keep the air paths open. Be careful of hot coals dropping from your smoker and starting a fire. I use a shallow pan filled with moist sand to protect my deck. Also, I heat up the water to boiling on the stove before adding to my smoker. With these modifications, I can keep the fire in a reasonable temperature range by adding wood chunks and cold briquettes a few at a time.
I think a product should work without the buyer having to extensively modify the equipment. However, very good barbecue can be produced on this unit after the modifications have been made. If you want to give smoking a try without investing much money and can make the necessary modifications, this unit will work ok. If you want a water smoker and can invest $180, buy the Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker. I will probably buy a large smoker with an offset fire box in a few years, but this one will work for now.

(More customer reviews)While there are some common problems with this range, such as radically inaccurate oven temperatures, the biggest problem are the igniters. These devices, which have now been replaced, continue to try igniting an already lit burner. Sometimes the igniter won't stop immediately after the burner is lit. Sometimes after boiling pasta on high for ten minutes, it will start clicking. Sometimes the clicking will start after two hours simmering. The repair technician explained that this was a common problem with Five Star and that I should count on paying him on a regular basis for this repair. A little over a year after having the igniters replaced, they started doing it again.

(More customer reviews)Well, it's really to soon to know how this will work out. I can say that the magnet seems to hold the panel firmly against the tank. I've had it in place for about a month, and that's the problem. I have an ultra efficient Weber Q320 grill, and a fresh tank, so it will be some time before the tank is low enough to register on the gauge. That would be my only issue with this unit. I wish it was a little longer, so I would know the status of the tank a little sooner. Although with this grill, I think I'll have plenty of warning. One thing I do like about this gauge, is that you do not need to pour hot water on it to get a reading like several others I've read about. All you need to do is have the tank valve in the open position.

(More customer reviews)I am the cook in the family and like to grill chicken kabobs coated in a sweet soy sauce [Indonesian satay]. Because of the sugar in the sauce, the kabobs often get stuck to the hot grill so the meat tears when the kabobs are turned. This set keeps the kabobs off the hot grill while letting the chicken brown nicely. If I could rate the set 6 stars I would without any hesitation. The set is so good that I bought one for each of my four children! If you are serious about grilling kabobs involving delicate foods, this is a must!

The material is of good quality and should hold up to most moderate weather conditions. I do not expect this cover to outlast my Weber Summit S-650. I'm ok spending another $50 for a cover 5 years from now to protect my investment. Other options include purchasing a cheap $200. The Weber cover is a happy medium that should last many years.
